The Rode VideoMic has been my most trusted audio option for shooting on the fly. I have used this bad boy for everything from sketch comedy, my YouTube talk shots, Spicy Noodle Challenges, Action Films, and much more.

RECOMMENDATION: RODE VIDEOMIC STUDIO BOOM KIT
Amazon $179.00
B&H $189.93
I use this specific bundle for basically everything I did for a while. This kit acted as a boom stand in the studio, but also during outdoor shoots and others on location. This mic is so versatile I think if you position it correctly you could even use it for ASMR. I still use this mic but mounted in a different way regularly! My next upgrade would be to the Rode NTG5 when I save up enough!
